Zippy Market — Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Information you provide:

• Account information — your email address and password when you sign up or are set up automatically at checkout.
• Listing content— photos and details of items you list (title, description, price, category, condition), and the recipient’s email address for a private handoff.
• Transaction information — your purchases, offers, claims, pickups, and order history.
• Payment information — handled by Stripe. When you pay or set up payouts, you provide payment or bank details directly to Stripe. We do not collect or store full card numbers; we receive limited information such as confirmation of payment and a reference to your saved payment method.
• Reviews and communications — reviews you submit, questions you ask about items, messages to our in-app assistant (MarketGenie), and issue reports or messages you send to support.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage and device data — such as pages viewed, item view counts, approximate IP-based location, browser and device information, and similar diagnostic data.
• Approximate location— if you use the “Use my location” feature to estimate drive time to a pickup spot, we process your device’s location for that request. See Section 4.
• Cookies and local storage — used to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as your theme and the position of the MarketGenie widget. See Section 6.
• Video at the pickup location — the physical pickup location is monitored by a security camera for safety and security, which may record individuals who visit it.

2. How we use your information

• Provide and operate the Service — listings, payments, offers, locker assignment, unlock links, and pickups.
• Process transactions and seller payouts through Stripe.
• Send transactional email such as purchase confirmations, sale notifications, unlock links, and claim notifications.
• Generate listing suggestions and answer questions using AI (see Section 3), and moderate listings for safety and policy compliance.
• Protect the Service against fraud and abuse, including with Google reCAPTCHA.
• Maintain anonymized buyer and seller handles so users don't have to share personal contact details.
• Respond to your support requests and improve the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. AI features

Zippy Market uses Google’s Gemini AI models to power several features: analyzing your listing photos to suggest a title, description, price, category, and condition; moderating listings for prohibited content; answering buyer questions about an item; and powering the MarketGenie assistant. To provide these features, the relevant content (such as a listing photo or the text of your question) is processed by Google as our service provider. We do not use this content to build advertising profiles about you.

4. Location data

To protect sellers, the precise pickup address is not shown publicly — item pages show only an approximate area. The exact pickup location is revealed to a buyer after a purchase or claim is completed. If you use the “Use my location” feature, your coordinates are sent to our mapping provider to calculate drive distance and time; the exact destination coordinates are never returned to your browser. Map display uses OpenStreetMap, and drive estimates use the Google Maps Platform.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With other users, in limited form.Listing content and reviews you post are visible to other users, and buyers and sellers are shown to each other only by anonymized handles (e.g. “Buyer #1234”). We do not reveal your email address to other users.
• With service providers who help us run the Service, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, hosting of functions), Stripe (payments and payouts), Google (Gemini AI, reCAPTCHA, and Maps Platform), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (website hosting), and OpenStreetMap (map tiles). These providers process information on our behalf or under their own terms as a payment processor.
• For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Zippy, our users, or others.
• In a business transfer — if Zippy Services LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, secure the Service, and remember preferences such as your light/dark theme and the MarketGenie widget position. Some third parties named above (for example, reCAPTCHA and Stripe) may set their own cookies to provide fraud-prevention and payment functionality. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. Transaction and payout records may be retained longer to meet financial and legal requirements.

8. Your choices and rights

• Access or update your account information through the Service, or by contacting us.
• Request a copy or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and operational limits (for example, we may need to keep records of completed transactions).
• Opt out of non-essential email; note that we still need to send transactional messages such as unlock links and receipts.
• Manage location and cookie permissions through your browser or device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or other state privacy laws. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@zippydoes.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not sell your personal information.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls provided by our infrastructure partners. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Zippy Market is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Relationship to zippydoes.com

Zippy Market and the Zippy services platform at zippydoes.com are both operated by Zippy Services LLC and share a single login identity, so an account created on one can be used to sign in to the other. Apart from that shared identity, the two products keep their profiles and transaction data separate. This policy applies only to Zippy Market.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
